W Magazine – “Couture Clash”
Couture editorials are usually set in locations that mirrors the clothes’ exclusivity to those who can afford to have it. Palaces are perfect examples though some seek to break away from the mold and shoot in unlikely places such as construction sites and derelict buildings. W Magazine goes on a different direction for this editorial as it is shot in what looks like a palatial estate that has been neglected, hence the posters and the graffiti on the walls. The setting also mirrors the theme of the editorial as it is a marriage of couture clothes and grunge styling which is one of the key trends for the season. The editorial, titled “Couture Clash”, stars Saskia de Brauw who looks like a princess with attitude who exudes grace, class and sass all at the same time. Pieces from Ulyana Sergeenko Couture, Atelier Versace, Schiaparelli and many others were selected by Edward Enninful while British photographer Craig McDean lensed the images for W Magazine’s October 2013 issue.
