British Vogue – “Still Life”
Fall and winter fashion are usually dark when it comes to colors and it doesn’t really surprise anyone. Besides, darker colors are known to retain heat longer than light colors making it suitable when bracing the bitter cold. This editorial from British Vogue features the season’s dark and ladylike pieces with inspiration from paintings done by the old Dutch masters such as Johannes Vermeer and Anthony van Dyck. The editorial, titled “Still Life”, shows Anna Ewers, Ashleigh Good and Sam Rollinson looking regal and ladylike in fashions that could have been worn by the female models of the Dutch masters if only it were available at the time. Fashion Director Lucinda Chambers selected the pieces used in the shoot from Alexander McQueen, John Rocha, Alberta Ferretti and many others while photographer Josh Olins captured the images. The editorial is part of British Vogue’s December 2013 issue.
